alright fine

sarmale are a traditional food from home. in the past a turkish dish, sarmale are now true and honest traditional romanian food, quite literally our national dish. most commonly, we make them with pickled cabbage leaves and a stuffing made of beef or pork (or both), though vine leaves variants are not uncommon at all.

they're really oily. they actually look somewhat better than i thought. canned goods don't usually give me the feeling that they came off a high shelf in a poorly lit underground bunker somewhere but this does. again, they're very oily. between this and a kind of off lemony taste there's not much else. texture is alright, the vine leaves are softer than usual (though given they've sat in their weird oil for however long it checks) and don't feel as nice chewing them as they would normally. though of course it's still canned food. hmm. they taste kind of how they look, a little grey with lemon, there's honestly very little to say other than that. i don't think i could eat more than a few without it getting some manner of unpleasant. but still, they're quite alright. some bread would've worked
