sorry everyone alex has reviewer's block so you're stuck with me today.

tonight we're having..

with a late night flight, i arrived at the airport hungry and started scouting for snacks. an overarching fermentation theme ended up emerging because my picks were kimchi flavor chips and a pastrami, sauerkraut and piccalilly (wow returning advent character!) sandwich.

i'll start with the bad part to get it out of the way.

the pastrami sandwich was. well. the presentation is terrible to say the least. i can't say the ingredients individually are bad but they just form a subpar sandwich together. like a group project with very little involvement that just ends up getting an average grade. i actually ended up identifying the exact type of piccalilly they used by sneaking a peek behind their counter because it was honestly the best part. i wonder what the differences between dutch piccalilly and british piccalilly are.

i think the bread being really soft and wimpy too didn't help much. this kind of sandwich should have been on some crunchy wholegrain ciabatta. sorry to this place but this sucked overall, especially for €10.50. will not be returning on my next airport visit !

these chips were the star of the evening to be honest. i really like how they specify who they were cooked by like they tell you the cow's name on the milk carton sometimes. this is a much better version of it though because it doesn't make you feel uncomfortable or worried for the person cooking the chips.

the packaging was enough to cheer me up after that subpar sandwich, but the taste was great too. a slight gochujang-y spice, and the fermented sour taste of kimchi shines through from behind it. they got the flavor bang-on. i just wish they were a little bit saltier because i usually expect chips to be a salty snack (checked the nutrition label and the whole 75g bag had less than 1g of salt actually). but i can't complain. these were really good. chips rarely have such well crafted flavors.

this is not the end though! i am about to hop on my flight and i'm expecting another treat there which will receive a thorough review on my website (hopefully) (i have not updated my site in a while)
