this specific rayquaza ex was my first "big hit" card i've ever pulled. when i was 12 me and my family went on a short vacation to rome. pokemon cards weren't sold in romania at the time (and still wouldn't be for another five years) so knowing we'd go to italy where i knew they sold them (i checked on the website) i saved every bit of money i could garner as a 12 year old. come the time for the trip i gave my dad everything i had to exchange into euro so i could be ready
needless to say i bought a bunch of packs, of which the only proper good hits were the rayquaza and a full art thundurus. yeah the cards were in italian but i could understand enough and i didn't care, i had pokemon cards, in my own hands. it was a new world to me
as for how good the card is/was? no clue, i don't think it would do all that well in expanded today but it looks like in its time it could fare quite well in standard. here's a pokemon card of the day (one of my favourite blogs on tongle dot com) post about it
