tonight we're having..
Taro Brand Fish Snack
Original Flavoured
what is this
i bought these on a whim during my original asian store review snack run. i figured that not being entirely clear on what they even are and also kind of looking like dried sausage casings (which, sidenote, i dunno how closely tied the concept of sausage casings and animal guts/innards/intestines are to a native english speaker, but in romanian we use the same word as for guts/innards/intestines because, well, that is what they are) are two aspects that would make up an interesting review
notable things from the packaging: they're 67.4% fish meat (specifically lizard fish) and they're full of protein (15g per serving of 52g). ok, let's see
opening this hits you with the strongest smell of seaweed. possibly a good sign as i love seaweed. can't say i knew what to expect
i really thought they'd be crunchy but they're like... rubbery? i can't really describe the texture, it's like, you bite into it and expect it to break couse it looks kind of like some baked, puffed chip, then it sticks to your tongue a bit and you try to chew it but you don't feel like you're making any progress, like chewing rope, but then, as if by magic, you're suddenly done chewing without even realising
taste wise it does taste like seaweed, just stronger and perhaps a little meatier (that 67.4% lizard fish is really pulling its weight). i like them but they're very intense. a whole pack has 52g and it says it's a whole serving, but i don't think i'd enjoy having the whole thing at once
you know what, these would make an incredible ramen topping actually
final rating - [░░░▒▒▒▓▓▓████?------] : a high 14 somewhere, or perhaps a low 13. very confusing snack/20
i liked it. i think it's gonna make a great little snack to completely shatter immersion while playing some adventure game someday
