tonight we're having..
AGV Deluxe Grass Jelly Dessert
hmm. grass jelly. a peculiar concept for the european mind
i found this for relatively cheap at a local asian store. packaging and presentation feel very pristine, like this means business. it feels nice to hold in hand too, right shape and weight, like holding a cool stick. solid taking home experience so far
i really like that it comes with a spoon in the cap
as opposed to probably a bunch of the things i'll be reviewing this december, not only have i never had this before, i also have little to no clue what to expect out of it
well, let's open it and see!
huh. i honestly didn't really expect it to be this dark. it smells... hmm... it reminds me of something but i can't place my finger on it. it's very light and breezy. it's not quite grass (shock!) though, it's like something mom used to make or buy? really off guess here but it kinda smells like cold ham sandwiches? like you'd have on a beach or summer morning when you're 10??? very peculiar
the label says it's ready to eat so let's dig in i say. i dunno why i expected it to be kind of like chunks in a soup but its one big thing. it's kind of neutral, doesn't quite taste of much, though it tastes very consistent to its smell. it's also chunky, like there's stuff in it. the bottom of the can says "KONJAC • MUNG BEAN • CHICKPEA". i managed to identify two separate kinds of chunks, what i call the mollusk (possibly the mung bean) and the cube (konjac). i like them. i honestly don't really know what i expected
oh new smell theory: the water left on green grapes after you washed it
it's very neutral, vaguely sweet. it's like okay, not the biggest fan but i'm far from disliking it. the more i have it the more it grows on me, but i don't think i'll be having it all in one sitting. i feel like i'm not meant to be eating it by itself, it'd actually be pretty great on ice cream
i think i like the juice better than the jelly
final rating - [░░▒▒▓▓███-----------] : 9/20
if there's anything to take away from this it's try it over some ice cream, something vanilla based. i feel like they'll blend together and complement eachother really well
i may have bad news
though it's actually kinda funny that this is at least the fourth time i've been called that for entirely different reasonsi didn't get a cheese advent calendar this year (°ロ°)
i didn't see one in store but to be honest with you i didn't really look either. doing the cheese calendar the third year in a row feels kinda bland. i found something else which seemed kind of fun on the spot.
YEAH THAT'S RIGHT WE'RE GOING GAMBLING
this all started when somehow my girlfriend and i ended up on a youtube rabbithole of channels where people would buy entire packs of scratchers and go through them in like 20 minutes with custom coins and perfect scratching technique and everything. something very attractive to me about how these scratchers look, like a shitty eastern MMO with an overcluttered UI, i just love it
don't worry i don't actually spend money on this stuff
anyway i figured it's a fun advent to follow through. the game here is we're looking for the same two adequately christmas themed icons in the same box. all that being said,
aw dang it
